Boris Ovodenko, M.D. is a board certified ophthalmologist practicing in Brooklyn and Manhattan.  He specializes in cataract surgery, laser vision correction, glaucoma, and comprehensive eye care.  Dr. Ovodenko graduated Summa Cum Laude in three years from Johns Hopkins University where he earned the distinction of being elected as a member of Phi Beta Kappa.  He attended the State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn where he earned an M.D. degree, after which he completed an internship at the world renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.   He then went on to The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary where he did a Glaucoma Research Fellowship under Robert Ritch, M.D., an international authority on glaucoma.  This was followed by an Ophthalmology residency at the prestigious New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.  He pursued additional post residency training with Richard Mackool, Sr, M.D., one of the world’s foremost cataract surgeons and Eric Donnenfeld, M.D., an internationally recognized authority in corneal surgery and laser vision correction.  He was the first resident physician in New York to implant Crystalens 5-0 to reduce dependence on glasses.  As an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, he dedicates time to training the next generation of eye surgeons by teaching them clinical skills and enhancing their surgical expertise.  In addition, he finds the time to attend national meetings and has organized an advanced level cataract course presented at the American Academy of Ophthalmology National Meeting in October, 2009 which earned him high recognition from an international audience of ophthalmologists.
